How to Evolve Your Hero in Anime Soulborn

The Roblox description for Anime Soulborn puts hero evolution in the second line: “Evolve your Hero and unlock powerful abilities.” That is not flavor text. X Studio G2 built a pass board around souls, XP, and pet swords, which means your character sheet is a multiplier sitting on top of the pet loadout. This page is when to press Evolve and when to walk away.

If your pets are still empty commons, stop. Read getting started and fill slots. Evolution on a naked account is a tax.

What “hero” means here

In Soulborn you walk around as an anime-styled avatar — the trailer shows a Saiyan-armor starter, the key art shows a white-haired fighter. The hero is that avatar’s combat sheet, not a separate tower-defense unit. Evolving it should raise one or more of:

• Personal click / aura damage
• A unique ability cooldown
• A soul-gain multiplier tied to the form
• A visual form that also gates the next island

Until the HUD prints exact numbers, treat each evolve prompt as a purchase. Read the preview pane. If it only mentions a new outfit, it is a cosmetic branch. Skip it.

The spend order that does not brick you

1. Equip Best pets (see pets).
2. Farm a pack that dies fast — harvest souls.
3. Buy the next island gate if it is cheaper than the evolve node and the new pack is richer.
4. Evolve when the preview lists a damage or soul percent, not just a name.
5. Mounts last. Speed does not print souls by itself.

Launch-week players invert this: they evolve twice, buy a mount, then notice the pack still takes 15 seconds. That is a pet problem. Rank them on the pets tier list.

Abilities versus stats

“Unlock powerful abilities” can mean a skill button (Z/X/C style) or a passive. After each evolve:

• Check controls for a new keybind.
• Stand in a pack and watch kill time, not the lobby DPS dummy if one exists.
• If the ability is a slam or beam, use it on the densest cluster, not on a single leftover NPC.

An unused ability is a wasted node. Bind it. Put it on a mobile button you can reach without lifting the joystick.

Souls, XP, and the 2x XP pass

Hero nodes often want both souls and a level gate. 2x XP is 219 Robux. That pass is for people who are blocked by a level number, not by souls. If the evolve button is grey because you are broke, farm. If it is grey because you are level 12 / 15, then XP is the bottleneck and 2x XP is at least aimed at the right resource.

Do not buy 2x XP to “maybe need it later.” Buy it when a specific node is visible and gated.

Forms and lookalike anime

Key art leans on famous anime silhouettes. In-game names will be parody-safe. Do not search this wiki for “Gear 5 build” or “Kid Buu evo” as official labels until the HUD uses those words. When a form is actually listed, we will add it to the heroes roster with the materials it ate.

If two branches exist, pick the one that boosts harvest. PvP is not the launch loop. 10-player islands are shared farms, not arenas.

Refunds and mistakes

Roblox game passes do not refund because you evolved the wrong node. In-game, look for a reset / refund NPC before you tap. If none exists — common on week one — every evolve is permanent. Screenshot the preview. If the math is unclear, farm another ten minutes instead of guessing.

After you evolve

Go straight back to a pack and measure souls per minute. If the number did not move, you bought a cosmetic. Next souls go to pets or the next gate, not another evolve. When the new form unlocks a mount vendor, only then open how to get mounts.

Hero evolution is a multiplier. Multipliers need a base. The base is still souls on the island.
